Volunteer Info

The Moose Youth Hockey Association is a volunteer-run organization. We rely on the help and dedication of our families to fulfill volunteer hours throughout the season. These volunteer opportunities help to keep the operating cost down and the experience enjoyable for those visiting our arena.

Hour Requirement

For the 2024-2025 season:

  • Families will be responsible for 10 volunteer hours for each registered skater.
  • There is a maximum of 25 hours total per family (families with 3 or more skaters will only be required to complete 25 volunteer hours).

Volunteer Buy Out

During skater registration, you will be required to agree to complete your volunteer hours for the season or have your credit/debit card charged $750 per skater.

You can choose to buy out your volunteer hours at $750 per skater upon registration. If you have multiple skaters, you may not do a partial buyout, you will need to buy out each skater in your family.

Penalties for no show and cancelation

  • A $100 no-show fee will be charged to those who sign up for a volunteer shift but do not complete it. If a second shift is missed during the season, you will be charged the full $750 per skater volunteer fee.

  • Excessive tardiness, defined as two or more, may also be subject to the no-show fee.

  • Canceling within 48 hours will be considered a no-show for the shift and result in a no-show fee being charged to your account.
  • If you need to cancel within 48 hours please contact the Volunteer Coordinator to have your shift removed.

Types of Volunteering

Regular volunteer shifts

These opportunities include shifts posted to the volunteer page. These shifts include concession shifts, fundraising pickup, and home tournament duties (concessions, greeter, scorebook and clock). If you sign up for these shifts and you are unable to fulfill your commitment, you must cancel prior to 48 hours. Failure to cancel before the 48 hour window will result in a no-show fee of $100.

Team Volunteering (Does not count towards required volunteer hours)

Every family is expected to participate in team specific volunteering that supports their player’s team, no one family is exempt from these duties. This is an important way to be an active, supportive part of the team community. These do not apply to your family volunteer requirements as outlined above.

Examples of supporting your players team are: running the clock, scorekeeping, working the penalty box, and locker room monitor duties for your player's game.
